Luckily, there’s no need to worry. When cemeteries do fill up, there are many options available for what to do next. Here are some of the most popular options.

Reuse Graves

One option for dealing with a full cemetery is to simply reuse graves. This might seem like a strange option, but it’s actually quite common. In many cultures, it’s considered disrespectful to disturb a grave once it’s been dug, so instead, new graves are dug on top of old ones. This saves land and money, and it also keeps the dead close to their families.

Reuse of graves is becoming increasingly popular as cemeteries begin to fill up and become overcrowded. Reusing a grave means that instead of digging a new grave for each burial, multiple burials are placed in the same grave. This saves land, money, and resources. And it’s not as icky as it sounds!

Move the Cemetery

Cemeteries are a necessary part of life, but that doesn’t mean they have to be static. In fact, there are many compelling reasons to move the cemetery.
